The Federal Motor Transport Authority monitors the approval of environmentally friendly and flawless technology for motor vehicles. To demonstrate that your vehicles or vehicle parts satisfy such requirements, you must obtain EC approval, EC type approval or type approval in accordance with the domestic and international road traffic laws. The basis for the approval from the KBA is the certification of a quality management system or the verification of production locations. The goal of the certification is to ensure that, in addition to the compulsory initial assessment, quality is ensured throughout the further production (Conformity of Production, CoP).

Issuing of your CoP statement after successfully passing the audit
Certification from the Federal Motor Transport Authority is a legally necessary step to demonstrate that the production of vehicles, vehicle components, independent units or technical systems complies with the domestic and international road traffic laws. The following requirements must be met:
- The specified respective operating permit and type approval in accordance with Regulations EU 2018/858, EU 167/2013 and EU 168/2013
- The 1958 UNECE Agreement On Harmonized Regulations for the Technical Equipment and Parts of Wheeled Motor Vehicles (UN/ECE Regulations)
- The relevant requirements of the German Road Traffic Licensing Act
KBA certification is therefore of relevance for all companies that manufacture or distribute the above-mentioned products and for which an EC operating permit, EC type approval or a type approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority is required.
In addition to ISO 9001 certification, the KBA certification can also be combined with similar certifications such as an audit according to IATF 16949 or VDA Volume 6.1.
