Certification according to the SURE system

Demonstrate sustainable processes for the production of electricity and heat with the Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme

The Renewable Energy Directive (2018/2001/EC – RED II) aims to further advance and encourage the use of energy from renewable sources. It also applies to operators involved in the supply chain and the production of liquid biofuels or biomethane for the production of electricity or heating/cooling.

A voluntary certification according to the SURE system is the optimum way to demonstrate compliance with the sustainability criteria on a neutral and reliable basis.

Your certification according to SURE at a glance

With certification according to the SURE system, your company receives objective and reliable proof that it fulfills the requirements of RED II regarding the sustainability of biomass for the generation of electricity or heat/cooling.
Our experienced experts assess the conformity of your processes with the requirements of the SURE certification system during an on-site audit. After a successful review of the audit documents, you will receive our independent certificate, which you can use to demonstrate your compliance with the RED II sustainability criteria.
The certification is suitable for:
  • Producers of agricultural biomass
  • Producers of forest biomass
  • Companies that produce waste and residual waste
  • Producers of combustible biomass fuel
  • Companies undertaking retail with biomass and biofuels and the associated logistics

The SURE Certification procedure
1. Information

2. Certification audit
On-site certification with document review, site tour and interviews
3. Audit report and assessment
Documentation of the audit and assessment
4. Certificate
After successfully completing certification, you will receive your certificate
5. Surveillance audit
A surveillance audit is carried out once within 6 months of the initial certification.
6. Recertification
A recertification audit takes place every 12 months
