Certification according to VDA 6.4

Outstanding quality management for production equipment

Tools, devices, machines and systems for the automotive industry have to fulfill the highest quality requirements.

However, it isn’t possible for manufacturers of production equipment to be certified according to VDA 6.1 or comparable standards for suppliers. With our certification according to the specific industry standard VDA 6.4, you can prove to your customers that your production equipment meets these high requirements concerning quality and safety.

Your path to obtaining an industry standard VDA 6.4 Certificate

The technical standard VDA 6.4 was developed by the German Association of the Automotive Industry, VDA for short, on the basis of ISO 9001. VDA Volume 6 Part 4 “QM System Audit for Production Equipment” takes into account the specific requirements for individual and series manufacturers of production equipment for the automotive industry. As certification according to IATF 16949/VDA 6.1 is not possible in this area, VDA 6.4 represents a good alternative, also for manufacturers operating on the international stage.
The standard is applicable to all manufacturers of production equipment for the automotive industry, such as tools, systems, machines, test equipment and devices. Auditing is possible for the whole company and, if necessary, the provision of services on site at the customer (installation of systems) or for individual locations or product groups.
Procedure for your certification according to VDA 6.4
  • 1. Information discussion
    Clarification of outstanding issues, joint determination of the next steps, project discussion
  • 2. Document verification and on-site audit
    Readiness analysis and audit of the description of the management system, the quality-related capability towards your customers, implementation of the documented statements in daily business
  • 3. Audit report and assessment
    Visitation report and assessment of the management system
  • 4. Certification and DEKRA seal
    After successfully completing the certification, you will receive your certificate and our recognized DEKRA seal (with a maximum validity period of three years)
  • 5. Annual surveillance audit
    A surveillance audit takes place every 12 months
  • 6. Recertification
    Steps 2 to 6 are repeated in the recertification audit three years after initial certification
