QS Certification

Animal feed safety – quality for the whole food chain

High-quality and safe feed is crucial for ensuring optimum animal nutrition and is equally relevant to the whole of the food chain. Businesses in the animal feed industry that are certified under the QS system fulfill their responsibilities in this area by implementing comprehensive quality assurance measures. These measures apply, inter-alia, to the procurement of raw materials, to hygiene at the workplace and to traceability in the context of production.

The product can only receive the internationally recognized QS certification mark if all the participants in the value chain comply with the requirements of the QS system. Our experts provide you with competent and independent support for your certification. With us, you send out a clear signal for the purchasing of safe feed.

A successful safety system for animal feed in just a few steps

The company QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH for meat and meat products was established in the wake of the BSE crisis in 2001 by associations in the conventional food industry. To increase consumer confidence regarding food safety, the QS mark was developed jointly by retailers, associations and businesses.
The QS certification checks cover the entire value chain: They start at the feed stage and extend all the way across to food retailers. QS GmbH provides uniform standards for every step - from the farm, to the slaughter of the animals and processing, through to the presentation at food retailers.
As a system participant, our experts will provide you with holistic support with the monitoring and verification of your compliance with these standards. After a successful audit, we will issue the certificate and forward the results QS GmbH. Your products may only carry the QS mark if all of the certification requirements have been successfully complied with and verified. The use of the QS mark is regulated by QS GmbH.

Our QS certification procedure

  1. Certification audit
    Our experts conduct an on-site audit and a documents review.
  2. Audit report and assessment
    Documentation of the audit and evaluation of the animal feed safety at the company
  3. Certificate and seal
    After successfully completing the certification process, you will receive your certificate and the DEKRA seal
  4. Follow-up audits
    After six, twelve or 24 months, a surveillance audit or recertification audit takes place – depending on the status and process stage you are currently in.
