DEKRA receives DAkkS accreditation as a certification body
Proof of Competence for Application of NiSV
DEKRA Certification GmbH has received DAkkS accreditation as a certification body in accordance with the NiSV regulatory guidelines on technical qualification. This enables DEKRA Certification to issue personal certification of the competence of users of non-ionizing radiation. Since January 1, 2023, this proof of competence has been required for all individuals who use non-ionizing radiation in human applications in the cosmetics and fitness sectors.
The Ordinance on Protection against the Harmful Effects of Non-Ionizing Radiation in Human Applications (NiSV) governs the use of optical radiation, ultrasound, and electrical, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields for cosmetic purposes. In the fitness and cosmetics sectors, it is essential that the corresponding equipment is used properly to protect customers against damage from radiation. Since January 1, 2023, anyone who uses non-ionizing radiation in human applications must have proof of competence in accordance with NiSV. Without this proof, users face severe penalties and lose their insurance cover.
The independent personal certification from DEKRA Certification enables users to prove that they fully satisfy the requirements of the NiSV regulatory guidelines. DEKRA reviews and confirms users’ competence in a transparent and independent process based on questions and tasks developed specifically for this area. The certification is intended for people with practical experience, professional training, a trainer certificate, or an equivalent qualification in the cosmetics, fitness or other sectors that use non-ionizing radiation in human applications.
The personal certification covers five modules: basic principles of the skin and its adnexae, optical radiation, EMF in cosmetics, EMF stimulation, and ultrasound. The duration of the test depends on the module. Users who successfully pass the test receive a certificate valid for five years. They can apply to extend the certificate for a further five years but must do a recertification test and prove they have received the appropriate training for each module from a recognized training institute.
